backlinkwatch.com isn't that great of a tool to use.. use something like ahrefs.com to have a look at the backlink profile. I just had a quick look - and it does look spammy.

SEOMOZ is great; I use it daily. Along with ahrefs.com - 2 of the best tools in the industry.

There was a rumored Panda update on the 17/10 - a few of my newish sites got smashed by it. I am working on a couple of EMDs at the moment that have stood the test of time - although one did drop back 2 or 3 pages, but has now worked its way back.

I personally don't think it's really required except for extreme circumstances. IMHO, the positive links should outweigh the negative links anyway... which also puts a damper on this whole "negative SEO" blip that's doing the rounds at the moment. Some of the websites I manage get in excess of...

I know, I know... it's a .net.au - but as of late, there has been some great sales happening with .net.au's What do you think it's worth?

I'm not saying that PR is as good as what it was 2+ years ago. However it's a great way to measure a websites authority with Google. In all honesty, I still use PR as a factor with building links, but it's obvious that PR is not as important as what it was.

My client mentioned above managed to take on a couple of government contracts in and around the Sydney area; backlinks from those websites are a mint! Being a .gov.au and all.. :)

Did anyone else receive any "rewards" from the big G? My site jumped from a PR0 to a PR3 (12 weeks old) and had very minor work done to it. A client of mine jumped to a PR7 - very happy with that!

Hi Mike, I noticed you mentioned 209K links, 20 websites of which are yours. Google is getting very clever at reverse-engineering link profiles to find any footprints, no matter how small - my advice here is to diversify your link building efforts and stick to trying to find authority websites...
