I'll PM you Tim. I get a little paranoid about posting too much information. :)

Yep we always ask for the reviews. Without doing that I doubt we'd get any!

I date all of mine, but I'm constantly adding new ones to the site. I generally get around a dozen each and every month. If you were getting a far lower number, or not regularly updating the site, then perhaps not including the date would be better. I do both, in terms of having a dedicated...

    testimonials

I use a testimonials page on my business site. It may only get a few dozen visits per month, but based on the analytics I can tell you it's in the top 10 for time spent on page and the top 5 for value generated. So they may not get visited a lot, but in my opinion they provide very good value.

    Exact Match Domains Are Back

Good news on my side too Don. That particular site we spoke about recently has come back from nowhere. A couple of terms have returned to page 1, and the big one is at the top of page 2. This all happened sometime Friday morning. Hoping it sticks...

    yp delve into ego bait

I read the very same article on SmartCompany last month (http://www.smartcompany.com.au/leadership/44142-how-i-made-my-first-million-in-less-than-12-months-seven-entrepreneurs-share-their-secrets.html) What annoyed me about the article is the title - "How I made my first million". The article...

    Google Penguin Roll Out.

Most of my sites made it through unscathed, and I had a few improvements which was nice. But sadly my biggest site, which was the target of negative SEO last year (see thread here) has been wiped from the results. This site was producing sales close to six figures a year, so it's pretty...

    Freelancer v Elance

So I had the project completed via Elance and I'm super pleased with it. I picked one of the most expensive bids, but the guy was a legend and I couldn't be happier. As a side note, I did use Freelancer yesterday for a very small job (repairing an error on a PHP site). From my limited...

    Freelancer v Elance

Yesterday I posted a job on both sites and the difference is quite incredible. The Freelancer proposals are super cheap, but so poor in quality that I couldn't award the job to any of them. The Elance proposals are far more expensive, but most of them are very detailed and give me a lot of...

    HTTPS as a Ranking Signal

This morning Google is already ranking the https version of the home page and a couple of other pages. Less than 24 hours after the change! No changes to rankings at this stage.

    In the press...

Thanks for the kind words everyone. A big part of why I posted it was to show what can be done if you really try. I started by registering a few domains and building some sites. Then I started buying some better domains on the drops and building even better sites. Then I started investing...

    HTTPS as a Ranking Signal

I've just finished changing one of my big sites over to https. Hopefully I've done everything correctly, but it's still a little worrying. If the rankings suffer I'll be very upset!!!

    In the press...

I'm not one to blow my own trumpet, but I thought I'd share an article from an insurance industry magazine which makes mention of the stuff I've been doing online. It goes to show that if you're willing to invest a lot of time and money into quality domains and websites, you can build real...

    Health.com.au

Their SEO must be terrible. I have their site not appearing until page 8 when searching for health insurance, and it's not even the home page which ranks! You'd think that a company that brands itself with such an impressive generic domain would put more into SEO.

    Cancelling a bid

I think that's pretty rough, especially considering the money you've spent with them over the years.

Geo Ntld's Flopping -.Berlin, .Tokyo etc

They'd have been better off with .syd and .mel, but either way they'd still likely fail.

    JUST .nz

It's up to the conflicted parties to come to an agreement. If there is no agreement, then the name will never be released until one party lets their domain expire. This is an interesting method, and if nothing else at least it stops the person with the biggest budget being the automatic winner.
