All they did was close the old support tickets in WHMCS which by default triggers the email notification of the ticket being closed. They could have obviously just updated the mysql table for tickets to achieve the same result without the stack of emails going out.

If price is the pain point, I'd go with someone like DigitalOcean (no AU) or Vultr. They won't setup WHM for you but they've got OS templates with it already installed, you just need to configure and add the license. If you want Australian, there are heaps of choices like Servers Australia...

What other requirements do you have? OS? Control panel? VM backups or just site level backups? Australia or overseas? Managed or unmanaged?

I agree, a PITA if you've got a lot of sites.

It's any form with sensitive/login details. I imagine it will stay that way - best to get SSL on all sites to avoid it.

Chances are if you have wordpress, you have access to cPanel. You can easily take a complete account backup and transfer it to any other cPanel host with little fuss. If you only want the wordpress files, you can export the public_html folder to zip format and save them to your local computer...

Pantheon aren't Australian from what I can see. Micron21 should be added to this list - not the cheapest around but certainly one of the best.
