This was passed on to me to share:

The Federal Court has sided with Telstra in its trademark case over to the name of its low-cost Belong brand.

Melbourne-based solar power provider Belong Energy was ordered to cancel its registered business name of “belongenergy” and any other business names containing “belong”.

<snip>

The company was also ordered to transfer the domain names belong.energy and belongenergy.com.au to Telstra, as well as any other domain name containing the word 'belong'.

Not sure of any other details other than the article.

Amazing... the word 'energy' in both domains clearly sets it apart from a communication company. The word Belong is also a common dictionary word, so I really can't see the case for Telstra... they must have good lawyers!

Virgin fucked everyone over when they came to town, even a cafe that was 20 years old at the time, no surprises when it comes to big budget lawyers

Sounds like it would confuse people to me, the word ‘belong’ isn’t exactly a common business name. ISP service vs solar provider, the usage is too close and not that surprising that Telstra ensnared them.

Imagine the confusion if they both started doing tv ads etc?
