Using the Global extension for branding?

What's people's thoughts on the .global extension.

Here's my example; (my church tried to buy the .com from the owner that has it parked for an eternity, the price they wanted for the domain, the church just couldn't afford.) The church have the .com.au and now as we expand .pl (Polish campus), not to mention .melbourne (they couldn't get .church because they chose a popular global church name, some other mob have it) but because of being forced to be creative they have recently bought the .global and are using it moving forward in emails, branding etc.) and it made me think about my projects and brands.

In web circles I hang out in, the .com is the pinnacle domain name, but to the lay consumer anything goes.

If I can't get the .com should I just go for .Global?

And is the .global going to end up like the .hosting? (I bought two, and dropped recently) because of a major price hike.

Get a .com variation for your Church. PM me the church name, what they want to do globally and I'll make some suggestions or try it yourself.

Go for a longer version of the .com as Domain Names has suggested. .Com is not the pinnacle, it is the standard.

Thanks for the offers, but the site for the church is run by one of the the pastors whom runs a WordPress business, I can only suggest advice to him as I do know more about domains than him, but they didn't listen to me last time when I said they should rebrand to a name that wasn't so duplicated by many churches around the world and also around Australia (and before they expanded, to three campuses). Crazy to think so, but their is another church with the same name in Victoria, and yet they are completely independent and different to my church, and one in Sydney (so these guys also buy up domains with anything similar to their brand name.) The website from my church is www.lifehouse.com.au But if you start looking at this keyword note the different logo's as this will help see the different churches using the same name.

The .com.au is a quality name. I've found a good .com alternative for use globally. Hand reg. I'll PM it.
