Just came across this post and thought I'd share it here.

http://morganlinton.com/five-predictions-for-the-domain-industry-in-2017/

Prediction #1: 4L Chinese Premiums will drop in price
Prediction #2: Brandable one and two-word .COMs will continue to see good liquidity
Predictions #3: Opportunities to hand-register liquid new gTLDs will continue
Prediction #4: Some new gTLDs will crash and burn
Prediction #5: UDRPs will hit an all-time high

Is anyone here registering new gTLDs?

I've got less than ten, and I regret a few of those purchases in hindsight.

I'm not a big fan of the nTLDs, so I'll be sticking with .com.au and .com.

The only exceptions for me will be a very small number of purchases for brand protection. From an investment perspective though, they're not for me.

I did read that post and I don't think he had gone too far out on a limb, when it comes to predictions the .com bloggers tend to all have the same outlook, cheers

I only have two, one is pencilled in to be dropped (hire.domains) and the other I was able to get the matching .com after a year of waiting join/domains/com ..... if anyone wants hire.domains please let me know, you can have it for free! At the time when I regged it rental.domains and lease.domains were reserved ...... then when I checked again they regged and even for sale at Sedo

I think often these predictions are nothing more than what has already been happening. That way the person can point back in time and it seems as though what they predicted was right when all they have done is state what already happened. I predict Trump to be win the election.

Careful about taking advice from Morgan also as he is not exactly a successful domainer.

I'm not disputing what you've said, as I don't know much about him. I would, however, be interested to know your definition of a successful domainer.

I do remember he owned domaining.tv or domainnames.tv and tried to get people to pay to watch his videos, he did have a interactive "radio" style show for just six months, many years ago now
