ACCAN joins the .au debate

The Australian Communications Consumer Action Network is getting some publicity from a statement its released over concerns about .au. I wonder what, if any, impact this will have on the process. Does auDA listen to such organisations?

Concerns raised include the need for small businesses to incur extra costs to defensively register names, lack of feedback from businesses on the proposed process, and the belief that if the process used for .uk were employed here it would be unfair.

Good to see these concerns being raised.

Incidentally, I also noticed there's an inaccuracy in part of their press release (with added emphasis):

"In the United Kingdom, .com domain name holders were given priority over other parties to purchase the new .uk domain names."

".com" should be ".co.uk".

Yes, the more high profile the topic becomes, hopefully the more oversight and accountability there will be into the process!
