We should all give Cameron Boardman and the auDA Board a very BIG round of applause.
Look what they can do, I'm sure Senator Mitch Fifield and Richard Bullock are also very impressed with their achievement.

A very exciting time for the Domain Registration Market including the 'Domainer' aye!

Some of these names have zero presence online. How can they be in anyway "eligible for demand class membership"? Ceasar Jr. Dorog

In my opinion, the definition “Australian Internet Community” within the auDA Constitution is very relevant to the Boards decision about who is eligible to qualify as a member of auDA

PREAMBLE

Taking the view that the Internet Domain Name System is a public asset, and that the .au ccTLD is under the sovereign control of the Commonwealth of Australia, auDA will administer the .au ccTLD for the benefit of the Australian community.

auDA will administer the .au ccTLD for the benefit of the Australian community. auDA is composed of Supply and Demand Class Members and Directors, each belonging to the Australian Internet Community.

"Australian Internet Community" means those users and suppliers of services via the Internet who are based in Australia;

..based in Australia i.e. Resident.

Why would any foreign person be eligible to have a say in an industry that they cannot partake in?

· GAC Principle 9.1.8

all .au registrations require the registrant to be resident in Australia.

In a few months the majority foreign members of auDA will get to vote on their preferred auDA membership model.

All thanks to the CEO of auDA and the morally bankrupt auDA board.

And let's not forget the complicit lack of action by the Department of Communications and Senator Fifield.

Yes, organised by Cameron Boardman and endorsed by the board,

I think Cameron should produce,

-The letter sent to registrars to encourage these "free for all memberships"
-The temporary rules on vetting memberships that were used to push though these memberships.

auDA is thumbing its nose at the government review,

The Review considers that more should be done to review and expand auDA’s membership base to ensure it better reflects Australia’s diverse and evolving internet community.

Recommendations:

11. That auDA diversify its member base in the short-term with a focus on extending membership to stakeholders that are underrepresented.

These people,
  • Aren't Australian
  • Aren't underrepresented stakeholders

Here's the list of people who sold auDA out to foreign intervention and influence:

The auDA board:

Chris Leptos AM
Erhan Karabardak
Tim Connell
James Deck
Suzanne Ewart
Sandra Hook
Joe Manariti
Grant Wiltshire
Holly Raiche
Damian Smith
Nigel Phair

And the intellectually bankrupt Australian registrars who quite possibly paid for their foreign employees to join (possibly without their knowledge):

Ventra IP,
Arq Group,
Dreamscape Networks
and

Let's not forget the registry:

Afilias (do you have a conflict of interest much)

I doubt Tim would be part of that, have no confidence in any of the others though.
Yeah no.
The entire board approved the new members. Nobody abstained or voted against them.

It's the sort of issue you resign on the spot over to draw attention to it and to say I don't agree with the decision.... and yet that didn't happen.

Let's also not forget how pleased Cameron Boardman was about these new members,

“This is a very positive move for the .au domain space and will further strengthen the operations of auDA by broadening the membership base.”

https://www.auda.org.au/news/new-auda-members/

...and this quote:

auDA has accepted all of the Review recommendations, and is working on modernising the operation of the respected .au domain space for the benefit of all stakeholders and ultimately the consumers who rely on Australia’s safe and stable top-level domain
  • Find the word "stakeholder" in the constitution. Whoops, cat out of bag moment Cameron.
we all know who those 'stakeholders' are, aye ;)

To be fair, we haven't seen the minutes of that meeting to Judge.

They only have one name (and all capitals), is this like Prince joining?

So we just need a journo to contact some of these new members to chat about how they came to be members.

Anybody know a "journalist" who also has the auDA member email list and is willing to ask the hard questions regardless of being a paid PR agent?
