Despite it being an "end-user" buy, one wonders what the commentary would be like from the ignorant folks that usual cry "cybersquatter" any chance they get - probably no different is my guess. Shame the comments are turned off on this one.

I bet I know someone who is glad this story is the major focus today.

No names; no pack drill. ;)

awesome sale. There are people besides domainers now who know the value of domain names.

Good luck to the Buyer. Takes some big kahunas to drop those dollars

excellent PR article...and we are improving:

Domain name industry players on the DNTrade.com.au forum predicted investmentproperty.com.au would sell for $10,000, so the final price of $125,000 blew away their expectations.

so...from cybersquatters to 'industry players'

I wonder...when 'professionals'?

I don't understand why they're not allowing comments on this article. I'd be keen to hear what Joe Public has to say about it.

It is a shame, but this thread which is linked from the SMH has had 2,529 views! Hopefully Joe Public signs up here and has their say

Hello,

I'm the CTO of Landlord Central the license holder to Property Compass within Australia.

Found this great thread by reviewing some Google Analytics referral data, it really is interesting to see the commentary you guys had running during the auction period.

I'd like to say well done to Steven and Vision Homes for securing this amazing domain and the group that pulled it off. It really is an excellent coup and justifies the record breaking price tag that came with it in my opinion.

Hi Galen,

Yeah I really hope they will make it work for them. I have no doubt they will & wish them all the best. If they do indeed get the site to rank well then it will pay off in no time and be a great advertisement for using premium domains in Australia.

Good luck!

Hi Galen.

I was *this* close to not linking to the site. :D

I think you will do well. Good combo of domain + software.

Yeah I really hope they will make it work for them.
If they spend half as much as they did on the domain itself hiring a full time internet marketer and web developer for a couple of months - they will be raking it.

Oh you're such a cynic, snoopy!

I wonder how much SEO benefit the media coverage from sale itself will deliver the buyer once the website is developed. There must be dozens of backlinks to the domain (although admittedly most mentions will probably be not hyperlinked) some perhaps from very authoritative sites
