Default what's the minimum exacts you should look for when buying domain?

What's the minimum exact match searches you want your search term to reflect?

Also, if a search term is 'australia' and brings 9,000,000 exact (exaggerated)
if available, would australiaaustralia.com.au be good?

Simply doubling the word?

It really depends on the keyword and sector for me as to what is the minimum number of exacts.

No, doubling does it make it any better. You could have any keyword followed by Australia. I would try and create a brand instead of repeating the word. ie myaustralia.com.au

If the KW you are looking at has 5,400 exacts in the sex industry and you can monetise it, snap it up!

you can compare search volume patterns across specific regions, categories, time frames

Go with your gut and if you think it has value, register it and flesh out a site. Testing and succeeding/failing will give you experience and that's worth more than another persons opinion by far.

Do you mean you are going to register it or buy it?
What exactly do you mean by 2400 exacts?
How do you come up with that figure?
What is the extension?
