I was just looking at the Domain Registrar Pricing page on this site, and saw that Ventra IP is planning to have a $39.95 fee for ownership transfer, which at least to my knowledge is the cheapest fee I have heard of.

I know the registrar I'm currently with, whilst cheaper for purchasing has a much higher transfer cost. As such I was wondering if I ever went to sell a domain would it be possible to transfer the domains to Ventra IP prior to selling them to obtain a cheaper ownership transfer cost for the buyer?

You definitely can do that, many people do that at the moment with some companies and their high transfer costs. You might also want to think about transferring your domains to VentraIP before your renewal is up to make the most of their $23.95 .com.au and .net.au pricing (2 years).

From memory there is a $100 setup fee, but buying domains through this process is like $20.40 (2 years) or something.

We're not planning to have that fee, it's already in place. The form is located at http://www.ventraip.com.au/docs/chan...registrant.pdf and the domain name has to be with us prior to lodging it.

So how much does it cost to transfer a domain from say, crazy domains, to your service?

.au domain name transfer are free, unless they are within 90 days of expiry, then you must renew it at our current price (today's price is $19.25, but our standard price is $23.95).
