Good post at LA Times -

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/tech...e-protest.html

I noticed big portals in AUS are not taking part/ doing much coverage, but it is a US bill but it may still have a decent impact on the AU market...

SOPA is terrible, it is a real attack on the internet. Some of the powers that US authorities will have are very concerning. Even though we are in Australia our websites can still be caught within the net. My thought is that because people don't realise that we might be affected, they haven't been as vocal as US websites.

The point that US lawmakers miss, is that there are already a heap of laws like the DMCA, which can clamp down on pirate sites.

SOPA is like throwing out the baby with the bath water

I watched a great TED talk from Clay Shirky about SOPA today: http://www.ted.com/talks/defend_our_..._bad_idea.html

A good lesson from this is how effectiveness an online campaign can be against bad regulations/laws
