I just hand reg'd socialnetworkmedia.com.au and socialnetworkingmedia.com.au and i think these are better than what someone is about to pay for socialnetworking.com.au in terms of media agency angle.

$40 outlay versus $X,XXX

Wow... so that was a hectic auction. I was throwing bids everywhere.

That's gotta go down as one of drops higher revenue producing expiry auctions in awhile.

Over 20 domains dropping for over $XXX, two of which were $X,XXX!

I was thinking the same thing,

The word "social networking" is not as powerful as "social media" or "social network" yet it is still a decent name...But why would a media agency need to worry about going to a site like "socialnet work media" or "social networking media" they would just deal direct with the publisher ie deal direct with Facebook, deal direct with Myspace, deal direct with OMG and news digital media....

interesting sales but -

I had a bid on one domain, yet I personally felt it was only worth $250 in this market.

Shocked to see socialnetworking.com.au go for such a price. As far as I can tell, it's not really the best keyword to go after social media from the business angle (setting up campaigns for businesses etc).

I don't think I've even heard anyone use the term "social networking" when compared to "social media" or "social media manager/management/campaigns" etc etc.

Good luck to winner though, perhaps they know of an angle that I don't.

Im the opposite, I have only ever heard social networking being used and never social media. I think that it is a small price to pay for a media company who specialises in social networking initiatives.

Agree, haven't heard of social media much. Social networks/social networking is the term the everyday person knows. (including business people)
