RSS Feeds - do they help or hinder SEO ?

Hi all,

as per the title, do RSS Feeds help or hinder SEO efforts on a site, i.e. existing content with x% original = a given SERP. Now add in RSS Feed content (as a subscriber) of a nature that suits the topic of the site / page and does it help or in fact water down the "original" content factor in GoogleBot's eyes ?
