Default New Drop System

What does everyone think?

I think the hidden bids is a good idea.

New system is relatively straight forward too.

I guess tomorrow morning will tell!

They seemed to make something that was so very simple to use, just that little bit complicated at first look. I really liked the old system, will take some getting used to for this one though.

I like it, as any new site, will take a while to get use to.

Thanks for your feedback guys.

As with any change, things may seem a little strange at first, but we have tried to make everything as intuitive as possible.

The New Auction platform has been designed to provide a more even playing field to our customers, by
a) deterring snipe bidding, and
b) alleviating concerns that bidders may have regarding “early” bidding and the subsequent potential to highlight domains to their competitors.

There are two major changes

1. Extended Auctions
The” extended auction is designed to minimize any benefit previously gained from last second bidding or “snipe bidding”
NB: The Drop.com.au auction now ends at 10:10AM AEST. Where any domain receives a bid in the last 30 seconds the auction will be extended a further 5 minutes. A domain auction may be extended up to 4 times until the final extended auction close at 10:30AM AEST.

2. Hidden Bids
For bidders in expiring or drop domain auctions it has always been a concern that an early bid may “flag” a domain as being of value and highlight that domain to a competitor. The new platform hides all bids unless you are actively involved in that domain auction.

You’ll be able to see bids on a domain auction if after placing a bid, your bid is either the highest bid, or increases the previous bid if a proxy bid is in place. If your bid is below the current bid you will be notified that your bid is too low.

We have also taken this opportunity to include very useful watchlist and filter features as well as a number of interface upgrades.

Naturally we are interested in any feedback that you may have once you have had a chance to use the new platform.

Cheers

Andrew Wright

Initially the system looked a lot more complex - from what was a very easy system to use. But thanks for the explanation Andrew - the new features sound great especially only participants seeing the bids.

Looking forward to testing it out!

I also like the old system, but I guess it's just what we're used to. Hopefully this new interface will allow me to get a few more domains, and not lose them at the last mo!

It makes for nervous times and more strategic bidding. Luckily I got my bids on and found the system worked well.

Are you going to be showing the winning bids at any stage for everyone post auction?

We plan on showing everyone bids on caught names...

Can anyone let me know if they experienced any performance issues with the new platform, speedwise?

Cheers

Andrew
