Just read it.

We've had some great developments in the .au industry in the past year or so. deepbluesea, OMG/Boomerang, netfleet, DMP, domain8, dntrade, traffic downunder etc not to mention the mergers/alliances (eg NetAlliance.)

Congratulations to all.

i think the newsletter is very useful particularly the expired domains section... with valuations. Why register a new domain when you can browse through all the expired domains?

For example i've just picked up blackbear.com.au ... which has a domain age of 4.

But yeh, always good to have an established marketplace (dntrade for discussions and netfleet for sales) ... as it makes it much easier for people to find each other.

Kust went through 30 pages of those expired domains, and my conclusion is that that's debatable...

Oh c'mon - never said how much!

If someone registered them then they obviously had value to that person.

Would be very unlikely if they were the only person in Australia who could possibly see that value.

So if you're looking to resell for profit, you just need to make a decision based on your chances of finding that buyer. Either by passively listing it for sale or actively seeking the buyer.

Take the potential sales figure (could be the Netfleet valuation?), multiply by the chance of finding that buyer within 2 years, subtract the value of your time in man hours registering, holding and selling the domain, subtract the registration fee, add in some estimated revenue from traffic and see whether the final figure is postive.

Update on expired domains: less than 24 hours later, 61 of those domains have now been registered!!

Glad people found it to be of use - we'll try and work out a way to keep this updated on a regular basis.
