Apology to Drop.com.au customers
In January 2011, NetFleet sent out promotional emails to approximately 1,200 customers of Drop.com.au, using contact details obtained from the .au registry database. auDA, the Australian domain name regulator, has found that NetFleet's actions breached the .au Domain Name Suppliers Code of Practice (2004-04), and caused accredited registrar TPP Internet to breach its obligations under the Registrar Agreement. Accordingly, at auDA's request we have destroyed all records obtained from the .au registry database. We have also agreed to conduct a comprehensive review of our procedures and systems to ensure that we comply with all our obligations in future. We would like to offer an apology to everyone who received the promotional email.

Just wondering David or Mark whether you are going to comment on this at all?

It seems that they stopped posting on DNtrade at the same time this all came out.

I don't know the circumstances behind their lack on communication, but surely it would have been better to come out on day one and say "sorry guys, we stuffed up, let's put it behind us" and let this thread move its way back down the pages into oblivion.

But they didn't, and now over two weeks later we still have this thread at the top of the forums.

Again, I don't know the circumstances, but it seems pretty disrespectful that they've just gone quiet and don't have the decency to respond.

We have been advised not to enter in to any public discussion on the matter guys, so all we can say is our notice on the website states our position. Our lack of posts is in no way "disrespectful", or "indecent".

The incident in question was an error of judgement and understanding of policy which we have discussed with auDA and relevant parties. Now, we want to learn from our mistakes and move on, and keep on growing the .au market to the best of our ability.

Speaking on behalf of myself only and not Soj or DNTrade.com.au - it's pretty weak that it took this long for you to say essentially "We can't talk about it". Your post is fair enough and I hope nothing too serious comes your way in terms of legal action but it's been like 3 weeks...

Sounds fair enough Mark .... and probably wise legally. .. dont know what else people want here. you already posted an apology. Really dont think you owe anyone any more than that here in this public forum and cant see why members here are pushing for more when its obvious you stuffed up and apologised etc
