Exclamation LINKS dilemma - https VS http

Hi,

I have a site that has just under 700,000 page links to it (about 600 sites linking - NOT PAID LINKS).

The site is now set up as eCommerce and has an SSL certificate which has not yet been activated. If I activate it so that the pages on the site become https// prefixed will all my current links, including deep links, still work??

You can see my concern if I lost all those links which have taken a long time and a lot of effort to build up

cheers in advance for the advice,
Mike

You'll only requre https for pages that need the security, which for an ecommerce site is generally for only pages like accounts, cart, checkout etc. These are pages search engines won't be crawling anyway as their dynamic for the user.

in summary. Build links to http

You dont use https on category, product ect.

Only on checkout, cart, login, you blocked these in robots.txt too.
