Default Experience with Estibot?

Hey all,

Anyone use Estibot? Are it's estimates even remotely accurate?

Cheers,
T

Hi Timmy,

It's handy as an additional tool for highlighting potential domains of value in a list. The additional data is also useful.

Don't read too much into the valuations themselves - they can vary wildly. Bear in mind that the data they use is very US centric (us spellings, us searches etc) so it can miss, or "undervalue" au domains.

Cheers

Andrew

Thanks Andrew, appreciate the response. I recently started putting some of my names in there and received some huge estimates like $6.5k USD for californication.com.au which I figured must have been calculated on US figures.

Good to know - Cheers!

Hi Timmy,

There are various models for valuing a domain. Unfortunately there are a few people who use these "automated systems" which (as you have discovered) have no basis in fact.

The method of comparables is what we use. These principles are also used in realestate and in the stock market. For the record, that's also why we publish the historical sales figures on Domainer Income (its 100% free). So if you want to sell a domain, you can check what other, similar domains have previously sold for. The same applies to buying.

Hope that helps.

The values are all over the place and most of the times the names of supposed value are worthless. Having said that it is the best of the automated appraisals and useful for scanning lists to find names you may have overlooked as Drop suggests. It should be one of many tools used.
