Our sellers have set realistic starting prices, and the domains have no hidden reserves. If you bid then they will sell! The sale of any of these domains is classified as a secondary market activity, so the 6-month sale restriction will not apply for future sales. You can sell the domain again tomorrow, if you wanted to!

Bidding is now open and the auction closes on Wednesday 21st April. Final bids by 11.30 AEST Wednesday 21st April (Extended bids until 12.00 AEST.)

Existing Drop Members automatically gain access to our Secondary Market auctions. If you want to participate and don’t have a Drop membership, you can purchase Secondary Market Auction Membership for a onetime fee of $9.95 (NB this does not give you access to the expired domain auction).

Some additional information and housekeeping…
• No hidden bids - The current winning bid will be openly displayed during the auction
• Auctions that receive bids in the final 30-seconds will be extended a further 5 minutes, until extended bidding closes at 12.00 AEST.
• Anyone can bid in an extended auction period.
• Bid amounts exclude GST and the Transfer (Change of Registrant) fee.
• It is a condition of participation that “Change of Registrant” must be via Drop.com.au at a discounted cost of $49.95

From a system perspective it went great. I think some of the domains went cheaper than we would have liked, but this is indicative of the maturity of the market.

Over time secondary market traction will grow, especially as business come to realize that they can actually get that 'fantastic name' they always wanted.

Probably preaching to the converted on this forum, but if you build it... they will come

Here is a some industry news that AusRegistry distributed in their recent newsletter.

As I've said before we should all mount a concerted PR campaign to educate the mainstream.

Imagine what a warchest we could build if every registrar, drop catcher, aftermarket, registrar and even domainer pooled resources.

That is why my blog is decisions.net.au and my new one is thoughts.net.au

I had a few bids at todays auction. Should have been a lot more promotion.

Every other major service oriented business niche has one. Our niche surely has enough potential members to support such a group.

Nett have done a few things here and there. However it's very far from the mainstream media.

Djuqa's idea is good - an association of some sort. It's been talked about before but really needs someone to enthusiastically drive it. Plus significant financial input from all members.
