Depending upon your registrar you should be able to create a new profile (of course initially with your ABN details) and have the domain moved to that login. I would have done as you did and renew it out of good faith, but this now raises the addition question of 'will they reimburse you for the renewal? I'd contact them again advising of the situation and ask him if he still wants the domain. If you feel you could possible get 2k for it now then it may be better for you if the other party would like a refund anyway.

Overall I just can't believe someone would pay $1000 and not want to immediately transfer it into their own account. The $79 or so transfer fee would seem a minor amount to ensure you get your purchase.

It would still be my account. I don't see why I have to keep chasing them now.
You have reminded me that I can change all the details except the ABN . Thanks. I might do that and tell the buyer I am going to charge for the renewal and maintenance
I have had several people do this , buy a name ,and then not pay for the COR ,so it remains my name. The other names were of less value , around $200
A couple the of people who took months to process a COR are on this board!
This is one surprises me though because the person concerned is well aware of COR , having bought several other names from me.
I am just so tempted to transfer it to another registrar and sell it, and then refund the buyer. I am sure that is NOT the right thing to do though. I am just tempted.
If I had not renewed it , it would have dropped and definitely sold at auction for more than $1k

The COR system just does not work efficiently

Every form is different
One registrar makes me send my photo id to the buyer!!
My favourite registrar charges less than $50 for COR

It does seem a phonecall is in order to achieve some form of result , and in the future perhaps we should all stipulate a transfer period , after which we retain ownership if the domain is renewed ?

If you put a deposit on a house and then dont follow through do you get your money back ?

Make the phonecall and settle it one way or the other i suggest

lessons to be learned there , i did read a post from the original seller at namepros , he never mentioned he had renegged on a previous deal ?
