Question Developing a name into a site - affiliates - questions??

This may not be the forum for this however there is only one way to find out.

If developing a site or 2 or 126 does anyone here have experience with affiliate programs in their development of their sites? Did you like that grammar?

As you know, I'm a newbie at domaining and I need to start earning some income via site development and wondered if affiliate programs were of any value and which may be the better ones - Google for some unexplained reason has kicked me out of Adsense ..... again

If this is not the right venue then can someone recommend a good forum or blog?

cheers, Mike

explanation ..... I couldn't find the potó'gold at the end of the rainbow (couldn't even find the bloody rainbow) of domaining so I figure I should instigate phase 2 of my wealth creation on the internet (I'm about 13 and a bit years too late but hey ..... ) - phase 2 being actually selling something to someone other than a domain name. If this doesn't work then I'll have to go to phase 19 (skipping the other 16 .... if #2 doesn't work then the next 16 certainly won't).

People generally use the net for 3 things.
1. Read sh*t.
2. Talk sh*t.
3. Buy sh*t.

Yes, you can make good money - but you can't just whack banner ads on any old page and expect it to convert unless you have high volumes of traffic. IMO the programs that convert the most are when the affiliate links are relevant and integrated with good quality content.

Not sure if you mean platforms or the actual programs? If you mean platforms than try clixgalore, DGM, CJ, ClickBank, LinkShare etc.. all reputable.

If you mean affiliate programs, then choose one related to a topic/niche you have some interest in. Also alot of the time you'll need a site developed before applying.

Good luck!

My 0.02 also - is act. Don't dwell on brandability, prettiness or long term strategies.

Don't pollute the internet, but create relevant, unique content and get indexed. Ranking takes time and skill - affiliate marketing should always be secondary once you know what your traffic/users are actually looking for.

Needs to be very closely targeted to what people are looking for on the site in my view, it is much harder than monetizing via PPC.

If it were me though I'd be avoiding development just for the sake of it and would be thinking about a real product or service you can sell, something you have a passion for.

You probably need to figure out why.
