Yeah Google did confirm that. They do however give more authority to .edu and .gov

.info was at one point dropped completely from the index early this year, but that mistake was soon rectified.

CTR definately has an impact on ranking.. that's what Google Analytics is for...

Robyn it will take you atleast 2 months to get out of the 'google sandbox' and achieve good rankings for byron bay. If you have a good network of authority sites and optimised content you could get on the front page in 3 months no worries

I'm thinking I can get it there by the end of April.

We'll see.

Robyn

Are you sure DTP? I always thought they ranked well due to the massive pagerank they normally have?

Robyn, I've got byronaccommodation.com.au (or something similar - too many to remember!) and I'm happy to team up. We can use links from my other sites to help with the sandbox.

The reason they amass page rank is because they are given more authority/trusted source of information. This allows them to get a higher page rank with fewer backlinks.

By the same token, backlinks from .edu and .gov sites pass on more authority to your site and are therefore the most desirable.

EDIT: also in my experience .org.au do the same thing
