I think Bet.com Casino.com Poker.com might be worth $9 million... dont know if Gambling.com is worth it but?
Most Gamblers dont like the term "Gambling" I now hear the term "Sport" used at the star city casino a lot. LOL.. The term is used so people think they might have more chance and they are not "gambling" or at risk of losing etc.. |

Oh how the times have changed. In a previous incarnation I use to do marketing for an online casino. 2001-2004 Gambling.com used to be one of THE sites to advertise on - it was a real cash machine for the owners and a very good source of converting traffic at the time.
"Gaming" is the preferred term in the industry... Andrew

The other problem with these sorts of domains is not only is it banned in US, Australian etc but Google don't allow Adsense for gambling related domains.

From Wall Street Journal A SMALL online casino and advertising company is hoping that gambling will prove more lucrative than sex. Media Corporation is selling what may turn out to be the world's most expensive internet domain name. The London-based group has put www.gambling.com on the block and expects the name to fetch more than $US10 million ($9.8m). Justin Drummond, its chief executive, asked Sedo to broker a sale of the domain name last month after a couple of potential buyers indicated they would be prepared to pay about $US6m for gambling.com. The German broker arranged the sale in November of sex.com by Los Angeles-based Escom to an unnamed private buyer for $US13m, a record for a domain name without a business attached. A reserve price of $US9m has been set and a number of private equity companies and members of the online gaming industry are believed to be interested in buying gambling.com, Playtech and bet365 among them. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. .End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. Ranked No1 on Google for searches of the word "gambling", more than 300,000 people visit the site every month. Hugo Dalrymple-Smith, who is handling the sale for Sedo in London, said: "This is the premium generic domain in a very competitive market. Gaming is one of the leading online businesses, and gambling.com offers the chance for one company to stand out above others." Internet domain names have sold for more but only with businesses attached. Last year insure.com fetched $US16m. In May 2005, Media Corp paid $US20m cash for gambling.com, ten times the amount it earned the previous year. The following year, the portal, which provided information on gambling to punters and directed them to other websites where they could have a flutter, generate $US5.5m from advertising. However, in October 2006, America effectively banned online punting, forcing Media Corp to withdraw from the United States overnight, essentially stripping the business of any value. Mr Drummond conceded that the purchase of the domain name is itself a gamble on the possibility of a repeal of the ban in America. Media Corp now consists of twin businesses: the Purple Lounge online casino and poker room, with more than 100,000 customers and revenues of about ₤30 million ($45.7m); and Eyeconomy, the seventh-biggest online advertising network, which sells ads for about 1000 websites in the UK. Mr Drummond, 37, who founded the business in 2000, just as the dot-com bubble burst, said: "Gambling.com does not contribute too much to revenues at the month, and the value we realise from this sale will allow us to make further acquisitions." |
